Wednesday - light of the world

St Matthew 5: 14 – 16

You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

 

Jesus says that we are the light of the world.  What does he mean by that?

 

Prayer:  Heavenly Father,  we are Your hands and Your feet and Your voice in our Church and our community.  You have placed us where You need Your word to shine into other’s lives.  You have given us Your most Holy Word so that we can read and see what You have called us to do in Your Church and community.  Help us this day, O LORD,  to point our family and our friends to You.  This we ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
