Friday - Tenth Day of Christmas

Prayer:  Thank You O Lord for your servant James and the community of believers to whom he was writing.   May the words that James wrote to this community also guide me in my wisdom of learning more about You this day.   In Jesus name I ask this.   Amen.

            Read James 1: 5-11

James 1:5-11

New International Version (NIV)
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business

Lacking wisdom.  With this new year upon us,  we ask God's  guidance to instill within us  wisdom.  Wisdom to make choices that will forward the kingdom of God.  Wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent.    And if we don't have wisdom,  James says to ask God.   Ask,  ask, ask.  God is waiting to be asked.  Then once you have asked God,  leave the request  in God’s hands and  don’t continue to worry about it.   God takes all our burdens and leaves us with light and love and laughter.

Prayer:  O LORD my Saviour,  may I listen to Your voice today and know that You love me beyond all measure. Grant me  the wisdom to live a life  fully within God's  love.   Help me today O LORD,  to make wise choices full of wisdom.   In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
