Wonderful Wednesday

Museum day yesterday.   Aaaah.    What a great group of positive thinking visionary people.   Wow.   While we did not have any visitors to take on tours,  we certainly had people drop in from the Regiment with questions.
Asking questions about anything is so important for understanding and learning.    Today I get to call Canada Revenue Agency - Charities Directorate and ask six questions about financing... and hopefully they will then forward me onto the Agency to set up Employee Payroll.     I read the website information but I'm still going "huh?"
To be able to ask questions and find answers is amazing!

Wednesday Retreat......
Prayer:   Creator God,  as we come into the time of the year when plants begin to grow,  may we too remember to grow in our faith of learning more about You this day.  This we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Read St. Matthew 13: 36 – 43

Do you ever listen to a sermon and not understand what the Preacher is saying but seemingly everyone else in the congregation does understand?  Or have you ever been part of a Bible Study and you don’t understand what the teaching is all about but everyone else does understand?  You are not alone!
Can’t you hear the disciples saying to each other, “So did you understand the Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds?”    While other disciples reply, “Well sort of.”  “I think I got it but I can’t explain it.” “May be.”    “Gosh,  we need to ask Jesus what he meant  by telling this parable!”
The disciples ask Jesus what he meant by telling the Parable of the Wheat and Weeds which is a great example of us today.  If we don’t understand something the Preacher or Elder or Bible Study leader says,  ask for an explanation!  We only learn by asking questions and  figuring out what we believe.
Jesus explains this parable as, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man,  The field is the world.  And the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil.   The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are the angels…….” (St. Matthew 13: 37-39)
Ah!

Read again this passage and ask yourself where are Jesus and the Disciples.    In vs 36 Matthew writes that Jesus left the crowd and returned to the house.  Jesus needed a time away from the crowd.   So too do each of our Ministers and Elders need a “time away” from the liturgy of the Church.  This time isn’t a holiday or a running away from responsibility but a time a part for prayer and meditation AND asking questions.    Ask your Minister or Elders today when was the last time they took time away for prayer, meditation, and study.

Prayer:   Great God,  we lift up in prayer this day our ministers and our elders.  May they be given opportunities to take time away and be in Your presence.   This we ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
