Coming Home Sunday

Happy Sunday.  A day of being in God's presence with a community of believers.    Having a Church vocation and being part of worship for over 30 years,  it now seems a bit empty to just attend worship and sit in the pew.   But attending Church on a Sunday is like going home.   The place is familiar,  the seat is the same (yes, yes I admit to being one of THOSE people who sit in the same pew every Sunday...... back pew in the balcony), the prayers are similar, and the Scriptures are refreshing.   Over 30 years a lot has changed in Presbyterian style of worship.   Some changes are awesome and some changes irk the heck out of me.... but it is all worship of God and must be celebrated with the love of God always in the forefront of our minds.

Today as you sing the Hymns,  really take time and go beyond the music.   Listen to the words that you are singing.  These are prayers to God.     What joyous prayers God must hear from out of our mouths.

Prayer:   Great God,  we thank You for Organists and Choir Directors and Choirs.  To every worship we thank YOU that they sing and play to Your Glory.  May the hymns we sing each Sunday open our eyes and hearts to Your love and majesty.  This we ask in Jesus' name.  Amen.

Many blessings.
